Weekly Wrap Up Feburary 3rd-7th
Daniel Bangudu
Welcome back, Vandals, to week two of the Spring 2025 season! This week, watch as many teams begin finding their rhythm in their respective leagues, starting with…
Monday, February 3rd
Day one began with our five-man EA FC25 team playing their respective games. Four out of the five FC25 players received victories via forfeits, keeping their spots firmly secured in their league. EA FC25 player Too casually defeated his opponent, Iona FC Gold, 2-0.
Both Rainbow Six Siege teams had a turbulent experience in their games. R6 Varsity unfortunately lost 0-2 in their match against Florida International University, while R6 JV also suffered a 0-2 loss.
Finally, the Smash Ultimate Varsity team landed an easy victory for their second game of the week due to their opponents forfeiting for unknown reasons. Week two of the weekly Smash tournament kicked off with everyone from the Vandal Varsity Smash team, alongside new faces, participating in the competition. At the end of a two-hour-long tournament, player Kuma managed to take the victory!
Tuesday, February 4th
Day two started with quick victories for players MightyBang and Wott due to forfeit wins. Sadly, Simply J lost 4-0 in his match against Liu Dylan in a quick series of games.
Continuing the streak of losses, Varsity lost 0-2 against Ohio Northern University (losing 10-13 in both games). Fortunately, both JV teams secured their matches, with JV1 winning 2-0 against Adrian College in a swift and dominating performance, while JV2 defeated Western Illinois University.
Finally, JV1 won their match in an outstanding 4-0 sweep against College of Staten Island in a series of swift games.
Wednesday, February 5th
Day three brought an exciting match for our Rocket League Varsity as they faced William & Mary University, winning 4-3 after an intense series of close matches. RL JV1 also put on a phenomenal performance, utterly obliterating their opponents, College of Staten Island, in a massive 4-0 sweep. Unfortunately, RL JV2 lost 1-4 to Catawba University in a short series.
Counter StrikeVarsity was up next with a match against The University of Virginia. Our Vandals, however, unfortunately lost 0-2, nearly securing victory in round one.
Thursday, February 6th
Day four kicked off with a highly anticipated victory from sole Hearthstone player Intethesis, who won his match 3-1, defeating Maroon of Brooklyn College in a very tactical manner.
Next, Overwatch Varsity had an intense match against The University of South Florida. Despite putting up a great fight, they barely lost 2-3 due to a singular outplay tactic by the opposing team in the final round.
Friday, February 7th
The last day of the week brought one of the most intense games so far for our League of Legends Varsity team. Facing The University of Michigan, our Vandals put on quite a spectacle, overwhelming their opponents with skillful in-game strategies. However, they narrowly lost 2-1.
LOL JV, on the other hand, had a more difficult set of matches, suffering a brutal 0-2 defeat against Plymouth State University.
In unexpected news, the Tekken team has had their much-awaited matches postponed to next week, Wednesday, February 12th, due to unforeseen console server difficulties.
