The first day of the week began with a sweet and swift win from our Varsity Rocket League team, defeating the University of Massachusetts 3-1. Additionally, the Smash Ultimate team held their first-ever weekly tournament, where team members signed up and competed against one another in a traditional tournament format. After nearly three hours of competition, player Dido emerged as the champion of this week’s tournament. Following the event, the Smash Ultimate team gathered to take team photos.

The next day, the Valorant and Street Fighter 6 teams competed in their first-ever matches in their respective leagues. The Varsity Valorant team faced a tough challenge against Ohio Northern University, narrowly losing 1-2 in a closely contested series. Valorant JV1 also suffered a heartbreaking 1-2 loss against NorQuest College. Unfortunately, Valorant JV2 had to forfeit their match against John Brown University due to unforeseen in-game technical difficulties.
The Street Fighter 6 team experienced similar luck. Player SimplyJ lost 0-2 to Wickelex, while player MightyBang faced a close match against Mirando but ultimately lost 2-3.
Wednesday, January 29th
Day three marked the debut match of the Varsity Counter-Strike team in spectacular fashion. Facing off against Rutgers University, our Vandals dominated the competition, securing a 2-0 victory (13-11 in Game 1 and 13-4 in Game 2).
Meanwhile, Rocket League’s victory against Baylor University was more anticlimactic due to an unexpected forfeit. RL JV1 had an exciting match against Moravian University, winning 4-2. Unfortunately, RL JV2 lost to Penn State Behrend University 2-4.
Thursday, January 30th
The day began with Hearthstone’s sole player, Intetheis, competing in his first match of the season, unfortunately suffering a brutal 0-2 loss against Crater.
Overwatch Varsity, however, secured a commanding 3-0 victory against Molloy University in a dominant series of rounds.
Finally, the Counter-Strike 2 Varsity team played their second match of the week, facing a tough opponent and suffering a disappointing 6-13 loss in a hard-to-watch match.

Day five of the week saw the first matches for both League of Legends teams. The LoL Varsity team had an unexpected outcome, winning their match by forfeit due to their opponents, the BYE ECAC staff, not showing up. The LoL JV team faced a tough challenge against Penn State but unfortunately lost 0-2.
Outside of League of Legends, both of our Star Tekken players had their own matches. Player Sanman went up against LIU Jadan and tragically lost 0-3 in a one-sided match. Player F0rgiveMe also suffered a 0-3 defeat against MCE Klunk in an unfortunate turn of events.
Though this day was tough, stay tuned this Sunday for the Mario Kart and Splatoon teams’ first matches of the season!
