Daniel Bangudu

Welcome, Vandals, to the final week of playoffs and the conclusion of this year’s exciting season! This week, we witness the long-anticipated finale for our teams who made it this far and the culmination of their journey toward the championship! Starting with…

Monday, Dec. 9th

Day one of finals week featured both Rainbow Six Siege teams competing back-to-back against their last opponents. Both games were spectacular but unfortunately ended with completely different outcomes. In an incredibly close and intense match, our Rainbow Six Siege Varsity team tragically lost 2-3 against the John Jay Hounds. Despite this heartbreaking loss, which came down to the last point, the team cemented their place as one of the best in their league, finishing in 2nd place.

On the other hand, the R6 JV team absolutely dominated their opponents, Marion Technical College, with a resounding 3-0 victory. Their swift and impressive performance crowned the R6 JV team as champions of their league!

Tuesday, Dec. 10th

Tuesday brought an intriguing match for the Valorant JV 2 team as they competed for 3rd place in their league. Though they ultimately lost 1-3, finishing 4th overall, the team put up a valiant effort. Their opponents, CUNY Hostos Community College, had to work incredibly hard to secure the win in what turned out to be a grueling 3-4 hour match!

Wednesday, Dec. 11th

The 2nd to the last day of finals featured an electrifying match from our Varsity Rocket League team in their championship game. Facing the University of Hartford, the Vandals went toe-to-toe with their opponents, trading points almost every round. It was a thrilling and historic performance as our Varsity Rocket League team claimed victory 4-3, making them two-time champions of their league!

Thursday, Dec. 12th

The final day of the season hosted the highly anticipated match of the Counter-Strike Varsity team. The Vandals faced a fiercely competitive game against Purdue University. Despite their valiant efforts, the CS Varsity team fell 1-3 to their opponents. Although the loss meant missing the opportunity to go national in their bracket, the team earned widespread admiration for their performance and finished 2nd place in their league. Spectators celebrated their achievements and cheered for the team’s hard-fought journey.
