Daniel Bangudu

Welcome back fellow readers to yet another entry in the Vandal Esports Weekly Wrap-Up series. Buckle yourselves up as you witness the triumphant highs, lesson-learning lows, and the overall journey of the season . . .

Monday, Oct. 21

The week began with a joyous victory for our Rainbow Six Siege teams. R6 Varsity kicked off the celebrations by defeating Texas A&M University 2-1, while R6 JV kept the momentum going with a 2-0 win over Alice Lloyd College, showcasing stellar gameplay and strategies.

Meanwhile, in Apex Legends, our varsity team secured 79 kills, 3 wins, and 117 total points, maintaining their position in 2nd place in the league standings. The Counter-Strike Varsity team also held a practice match against a non-collegiate opponent and emerged victorious with a clean 3-0 win.

Tuesday, Oct. 22

Tuesday began with a tough loss for all three Street Fighter 6 players. ‘Simply-J’ fell to Ultima 0-4, Mighty lost 0-4 to Koustics, and Vinny was defeated 1-4 by Ruthenium Fox.

The Super Smash Bros Ultimate Varsity took an unfortunate loss. Sadly, after losing 0-2, our Vandals got overwhelmed by Nelson University’s aggression.

However, brighter moments came from our Valorant teams. The Valorant Varsity team secured a 2-1 victory against Wichita State University, and the JV Valorant team followed suit with a 2-0 win over Stockton University.

Wednesday, Oct. 23

Midweek action started with a dominant performance from our Varsity Rocket League team, which swept the University of Hartford, 4-0. Unfortunately, both JV Rocket League teams faced defeats. JV Team 1 lost 0-4 to Molloy University, and JV Team 2 fell 1-4 to Central Maine Community College. We hope these teams will use these losses as motivation for future success!

Continuing the week’s victories, our Counter-Strike Varsity team defeated Purdue University 0-2. However, the CS JV team fell just short, losing 1-2 to the University of Southern Mississippi’s JV team.

Thursday, Oct. 24

Thursday saw Intethesis deliver a flawless performance in his match against ImposterT, winning 3-0.

In Overwatch action, two of our three teams celebrated wins. The OW Varsity team earned an automatic victory after the University of Pittsburgh forfeited. JV Overwatch won a forfeit as well against CUNY Hostos Community College. However, after a long and difficult match, our second JV team fell 0-3 to Mercyhurst University.

Friday, Oct. 25

The final day of the week brought an unexpected win for our Varsity League of Legends team due to a forfeit from John Brown University. Unfortunately, the LoL JV team lost 0-2 to the City College of New York.

The Tekken 8 Varsity match was exciting, with ‘MightyBang’ going head-to-head against ‘Sandon.’ Both players brought their A-game, but Sandon narrowly clinched the win with a 2-3 score.
