Playoff Review: Apr 1st – Apr 4th

Welcome, Vandals Fans! This is the next week of the post-season tournaments, and there have been many developments.

Apex Legends

The Apex Legends team competed in their Championship Semifinals lobby on Tuesday the 2nd and achieved 6th of 20 teams.

Counter-Strike 2

Round One of Playoffs had our team pitted against the 4-4 Marist College. A tough match-up, but our 5-2 Varsity team was able to take an 2-0 win. Round Two shall be taking place on April 8th against the University of Southern Maine. They have a 6-3 record, but with this last win our Vandals are 6-2 with a Bye accounting for our missing game.

Overwatch 2

Our Overwatch 2 Varsity team went toe-to-toe with the University of Houston. It was a struggling 1-3 loss that ended the entirety of our Overwatch 2 season. The University of Houston shall be continuing on to compete with the University of Guam

Rainbow Six: Seige

Varsity had a Bye, but they will be competing with the University of Alaska Fairbanks next week. The JV team had a match against Glenville State University, a 2-0 win. Both rounds ended as 7-1 in our favor. They shall be going up against Sitting Bull College next week.

Rocket League

There was a Bye this week, but next week, our Varsity team shall be against the University of Guam.

Street Fighter 6

Matthew “Droe” Neel went up against Sheridan College in the first round of playoffs. This concluded as a 0-3 loss and concluded our Street Fighter 6 season. Sheridan College shall be moving on to the second round against University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate

Our SSBU team had a crew battle against the Southwest Assemblies of God, a very prominent team in the ECAC League. It is unfortunate, but not unexpected that our season ended here with a 0-3 loss. Our opponents now have an 8-1 record and shall be moving on to go against Fisher West.

Teamfight Tactics

Taran “Doom” Haug took second place in the ECAC Semifinals lobby of Teamfight Tactics, keeping him pretty comfortable going into next week’s lobby.

Valorant

For Valorant JV, the ECAC tournament pitted them against Gallaudet University and finished as a 1-2 loss for our Vandals, ending their ECAC season. The Varsity team had a much better outcome against the University of Pittsburgh, 2-0. This pushes our Varsity team through to the next round against West Virginia University, a currently undefeated team. The Varsity NACE match against the Colorado School of Mines went well. We won 2-0 and shall be continuing on against Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. This week, JV’s NACE had a Bye this week, but they shall be going against the other Colorado School of Mines team.
