Playoff Preview

Amelia Green Mar 27, 2024

As we round out the regular season, our Vandals run straight into the tournaments. We have over 10 teams that made it into playoffs. This is an even better turnout than last season, a marked improvement due to the dedication and hard work of the players and coaches.

Counter Strike:

The Counter Strike 2 team shall be moving into playoffs with the first match being on April 1st against Marist College. Our record is currently 5-2 compared to Marist’s 4-4; a likely, but struggling win for our Vandals.

League of Legends:

League of Legends Varsity marched into playoffs with their first game on the 29th of March against Penn State! Penn State does have a better record than us at 6-1 compared to our 4-3, but there has been significant growth since our last match with them.

Omega Strikers:

Omega Strikers had a great start, but towards the end of regular season, they cut it really close to make playoffs. Our 4-3 team will be competing with the undefeated St. Clair College on April 5th. We will definitely struggle with this match-up, but there is still chance that our team will pull through.

Overwatch 2:

Our Overwatch Varsity team is set to have an easier time than Omega Strikers against University of Houston on April 2nd. We hold a 5-2 record as to their 3-4 record from regular season.

Rainbow Six: Siege:

Both Varsity (5-1) and JV (4-2) were able to make it into the play offs this season. Varsity will have their first round on April 4th alongside the JV. However, there is no current news on either opponent.

Rocket League:

Rocket League Varsity cruised into the playoffs, and their first match will be on April 8th. They don’t have an opponent yet, but with a record of 5-1, there is hope that our Vandals will go far.

Street Fighter 6:

In Street Fighter, Matthew “Droe” Neel will be competing against Sheridan College on April 2nd. Neel holds a record of 4-4 in comparison to Sheridan’s 7-1, so we are anxious to see this matchup.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate:

SSBU has already had their first round of playoffs against the previous top-ranked spot, Fisher West. They were previously undefeated, but our Vandals took a 3-1 win. The next round shall be on April 1st against the Southwestern Assemblies of God (7-1).

Valorant:

Much like R6, both Varsity and JV were able to make it into playoffs. JV had a forfeit win on the 26th against Southern Arkansas University and won’t have another match until April 10th. Varsity will be quite busy with earning playoffs in both NACE and ECAC. Their first round will be on April 2nd with an undetermined opponent.
