League of Legends Season Wrap-Up
Amelia Green Dec 21st, 2023
Our Vandal League of Legends Team has been ever so successful throughout the season, pushing all the way to the playoffs of the NACE Tournament! Our coach, Hummus, leads the team that includes HondaCivicAbuser — also referred to as Honda –, Irae, Chiamii, Jaggergravez, JediNinjas, and our substitute Hood. Our Vandals have shown exemplary skill in their positions! We ended our season as second in the conference, all thanks to our team’s hard work and astounding skill!
Our team is versatile in character choices and capable of playing various roles throughout the regular season. Honda began the season as the primary top lane and dominated the playing field! However, he moved to a more familiar support role as we progressed through the conference. He is often seen racing about the map and being exactly where he’s needed. Irae took over the top lane and took to it like a duck to water. As the top lane is often a more isolated portion of the map, he usually took care of things on his own and held the line! He’s familiar with characters made to tank more than others, which is an advantage for this playing style. Chiamii primarily focuses on the Attack Damage Carry (ADC) role, which tends to place him in the bottom lane. This role is used to consistently damage opponents, and Chiamii thrives!
As is necessary with this game style, Chiamii also relies on communication and vocalizes what is occurring to establish a need for either a jungler or support. As for our Vandal’s jungler, Jaggergravez easily crosses the map and focuses on his jungler objectives without forgetting to support his teammates in the other lanes. He often pops into top lane to support Irae before farming in the jungle and dropping to mid- or bottom lane. As such, he is adept in his role. JediNinjas holds down the line in the mid-lane. This is a crucial and challenging position, as there are many ways to circle around the opponent mid-lane. However, JediNinjas is a strong player capable of holding the position and pushing into enemy territory! Thankfully, our substitute, Hood, can fill any needed position and hold his own. We would have liked to see more gameplay from him, but he still contributed terrific skills to the team!
A highlight game of the season that has to be mentioned would be the game against Gustavus Adolphus College in the second round of playoffs. While it is unfortunate that we lost this game 1-2, we fought hard and showed fantastic skill against a great team! The first game was run with a more “quick attack and disengage” type of team that earned us a hard win. This was also a fantastic achievement for the team, as it was the first game taken from Gustavus Adolphus all season! The following game was a heavy tank composition, for the most part, that was matched by Gustavus Adolphus. They, unfortunately, won this game and the next one, but the technique and teamwork of both teams were awe-inspiring!
Thank you for following us during this season! Make sure to follow us on Twitch or come to the lab in the basement of the Pitman Center in the following Spring semester! We will be competing in the NACE and ECAC Leagues!
