The Esports Weekly Wrap-Up: Oct 9-Oct 13

Summer Muster October 13th, 2023

It’s week three of the Esports season, and we hope you succeeded with your midterms!

The Rocket League teams had their BYE week, but will be back the 16th against New Mexico State (varsity) and Neumont (JV). Overwatch went up against Irvine Valley College and unfortunately lost 2-0, but considering the four-rank difference in the teams, we can’t hold that against the Vandals. Better luck next week! Valorant once again brought us the W 2-0 against Mt. St. Mary’s. The Vandals brought a lot of fire that night, and it made for an entertaining stream. Smash didn’t take a single loss, with 10-0 and 9-0 wins against Southern Alberta Institute of Tech Academy. Our League of Legends had their first match Thursday, but had to settle for a win by forfeit when the other team ended up short a player. Friday’s CS2 team had a close match against the Arizona State Sundevils. We lost 13-10 and 13-7, with some great pushback from both sides. The Sundevils may have won, but it was a fairly balanced game, so we were able to stream strong plays from Arizona and Idaho alike.

Go check out our Twitch @UIdahoEsports to see a clip of Vandal player Blud taking out some St. Mary’s opponents, along with our other streams. Thanks for your support Vandals, and have a fun homecoming weekend!!

Go Joes!
