The Esports Weekly Wrap-up: Sept 25-Sept 29

Summer Muster September 29th, 2023

The Vandals Esports department had a very successful kickoff to the season, winning four of five game sets. Rocket League’s Varsity and Junior Varsity teams started the season strong Monday the 25th, with Varsity winning 3/3 matches against Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. JV followed suit with 3/3 wins where they managed not to even give up a single goal against Cal State University, Monterey Bay. Tuesday night, the Overwatch team faced off against George Fox University. The Bruins handed Idaho a loss for the two games, but this was their first ever game as a team. On Wednesday, The Vandals Valorant team decimated the University of Guam in a massive sweep. Guam’s Tritons failed to get any points in the first game allowing Vandals a 13-0 shutout. The Tritons managed to scrape together 2 points in the second match, but the result was never in doubt. The Valorant team was a force to be reckoned with, executing some exciting plays. Super Smash Bros dominated Thursday, raking in dominating 6-0 and 3-0 wins for Idaho. The Smash team opted to leave their best player out of the matches due to their lead. The CS2 team is preparing for their first match this Friday, October 6th. Starting October 10th, the League of Legends season will begin, so stay tuned for their first game.
